Innovation Partnership Manager (HK) - Corporate Innovation

Our client is a Hong Kong based conglomerate (USD 40+ billion in sales) with diverse interest across a wide sector of industries including retail, automotive, property, and financial services.  They have recently set up an Innovation division with the aim of fostering further growth within the company as they embrace disruption and change brought about by the rapid growth of technology.  

You will be part of a tightly knit Innovation Team (~10 people) at the Company Group level, responsible for helping spur innovation across Group companies, with a focus on business impact and culture.


  • Involved to identify, structure, syndicate, and implement partnerships with technology companies within their Group companies – could be in the form of using technology companies as a vendor or as business partner (e.g. joint venture or alliance) to launch in markets where they have strong brick-and-mortar presence, brand, customers, capital, etc.

  • Work with their various businesses to jointly identify where technology can create value e.g.  better understanding customers, creating new revenue streams, increasing operational efficiency

  • Provide assistance and act as a sounding board to among the ~30 internal employee-driven projects that the company has funded try to deploy various technologies (e.g. AI, chatbots, robotic process automation, data analytics, IoT, wearables)

  • Help evaluate new digital businesses to enter (e.g. healthtech, fintech, retail) including partnership opportunities

  • Help drive internal culture change to be a more innovative company (e.g. sharing case studies, bringing in outside guest speaker experts on digital/data, rolling out online training in lean startup, digital marketing etc.)

  • This role reports to the Corporate Innovation Chief Executive, with good exposure to top leadership at both the Group level and in the various businesses.


  • Undergraduate Degree from a reputable university. MBA preferred

  • 5-8 years of prior experience preferably in the following areas :

    1.     Management consulting

    2.     Technology Startups or Larger Companies

    3.     Corporate development experience

  • Global Outlook with Asian roots or a keen interest in Asia.

  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively within a matrix organization including effective C-suite stakeholder engagement

  • Naturally curious about technology and a keen eye for identifying high potential startups.

  • Enjoys networking, building partnership and identifying mutual wins.

  • Experience with working with Design Thinking, Agile methodology or Lean Startup.

  • A go-getter, high energy, independent and innovative problem solver.
