Head of Merchandising (KL) - Ecommerce
Our Malaysia-based client is a fast-growing global jewelry brand that is highly sought after by fashion influencers. Their products are stocked internationally with over 400 retailers and in the Ecommerce space. We are currently in search of an individual with strong business acumen to join the team as their Merchandising Lead. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be part of the senior leadership team.
This role will be based in Kuala Lumpur.
Supported by 2 Senior Merchandisers, you will be responsible for the company’s merchandising and supply chain management.
Lead the company’s overall sales and operations planning process.
Drive the overall merchandise calendar in line with seasonal timelines and retail / wholesale launch dates.
Ensure the alignment of forecasting, end-to-end inventory supply and demand planning processes.
Lead monthly meetings with merchandising and commercial teams to ensure the most accurate forecast through understanding the business objective behind the season’s collection, sales forecast history of similar collection, statistical models and business marketing intelligence.
Establish a process to gather market intelligence and stay current on market development to effectively react to potential volume impact to the business.
Staying on top of merchandise performance and develop strategies to meet business objectives.
Ensure healthy inventory status; ensuring optimum level of inventory holding, anticipate changes in demand and sell through by analyzing sales trends and taking into consideration the production and replenishment lead time.
Identify the underlying causes behind forecast inaccuracy and strategize on how to mitigate the issues.
Maintaining good relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers, in accordance to contracts, optimise margins, deadlines.
Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure quality, standards and timeline of supply is met and at an acceptable cost.
A degree from a reputable university with 10 years experience in retail or FMCG environment with minimum 2-3 years experience in a leadership position.
Strong business acumen with understanding of end-to-end product development and supply chain process
You need to be a data-driven analytical problem solver with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
Strategic, process driven, hands-on with an entrepreneurial spirit
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Mandarin will be advantageous
