General Manager Commercial - Business & Partnership Development (Jakarta)

Our client is an international mining conglomerate with operations in Indonesia, the US and Australia and they are looking for a GM Commercial to join their team in Jakarta.

Job Description

  • As partner to the CEO, hold overall commercial responsibility for the business on revenue (business development) and major costs (procurement management). Deliver overall business development strategy for growth for the company.

  • Build a strategic procurement organization to optimise cost, reliability and profitability for medium to long term 

  • Develop highly analytical, quantitative framework for evaluation of deals 

  • Build a high-performance commercial organization via talent and process upgrade.

  • Plan and oversee integration of business development and strategic procurement function

Strategic Business Development and Procurement / Partnership  

  • Senior leader for commercial development and evaluation using strategic and quantitative (analytical tools) to develop a high-performance commercial organization •

  • Deliver annual, medium and long-term business development strategy by segment, including road map and enablers. The  strategy should include SWOT, Competitive Analysis and Industry Benchmarks  

  • Deliver key differentiated offering of the company to its customers and partners,.

  • Deep dive into business development and supplier partnership such as profitability, improvement strategy for existing customers and procurement deals through pricing restructure or through innovative structure (for example M&A, etc), one cluster or one customer or one supplier at a time    

    Commercial Deal Making Development and Operational Excellence  

  • Manage tender process E2E, including tend strategy, pricing, approval and submissions to deliver sustainably profitable deal – both for business development and strategic procurement.

  • Deliver quarterly customer consolidated profitability analysis across multiple deals within the same customer and develop pathway for continuous profitability improvement. Deliver quarterly vendor/ supplier profitability analysis deep dive and dashboard, develop pathway for continuous profitability  improvement and ensure excellence in execution 

  • Ensure effective risk management and control process. Collaborate with Internal Audit for regular review to ensure consistency and compliance.

    Customers and Supplier Management  

  • Develop, secure approval and operate customer / supplier strategy, including monetization pathway, customer relationship matrix and farming planning post the initial deal.  

  • Delivering strong and high-quality pipeline for the business.

    Job qualifications

  •  Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Economy or Legal 

  • 10+ years in proven commercial leadership role in mining, oil & gas or related industries.

  • Fluent in English
