General Manager (SG) - Law Firm [25E11]

Our client is a respected law firm known for its professionalism, longstanding client relationships, and collaborative work culture. As the firm continues to evolve, it is seeking a capable and hands-on General Manager (GM) to lead its core operations, ensuring the firm runs smoothly and efficiently behind the scenes.

The General Manager will oversee HR, administration, marketing, and general operations, crucial in maintaining day-to-day operational effectiveness. The GM will be a strong people manager and a proactive problem solver, with a knack for building processes and aligning multiple stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee general administration and office management, ensuring daily operational needs are met.

  • Supervise the firm’s secretarial pool, front-of-house team, and pantry staff.

  • Maintain and improve systems for matter management, document flow, and internal service delivery.

HR Leadership

  • Lead the HR Manager and support recruitment, onboarding, staff performance, and professional development processes.

  • Help shape and sustain a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.

  • Ensure HR practices align with firm values and legal/regulatory requirements.

Marketing Coordination

  • Provide oversight and strategic guidance to the Marketing Manager, ensuring alignment between the firm’s business goals and its marketing initiatives.

  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts for events, branding, and communications.

Process & Stakeholder Management

  • Identify and implement improvements in internal workflows and coordination between departments.

  • Support practice leaders and partners with operational needs, acting as a key liaison to non-legal functions.

  • Prepare and monitor an annual operating budget (excluding finance function)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong stakeholder management across both professional and support teams

  • Proven process builder with experience standardising and improving internal systems

  • High attention to detail and operational follow-through

  • Discreet, professional, and able to handle confidential matters with integrity

  • Preferred Background

    • Experience in a law firm or professional services firm is highly desirable

    • Prior experience in an operations or general management role

    • Comfortable managing diverse teams across functions (HR, admin, marketing)
