Our client is a leading venture capital firm, headquartered in Singapore, with its strong reputation among entrepreneurs and investors. They invest across various industries within Southeast Asia but with an eye on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations and sustainability outcomes.

They are looking to expanding their Investment team within Southeast Asia and are seeking a Fund Reporting Analyst who is motivated and curious about tech and innovation, and want to be part of a growing VC firm in Southeast Asia’s vibrant startup eco-system. 

In this middle office role, you will provide support to the investment team and finance team in portfolio management, compliance, and fund-related matters.

You will be responsible for providing timely communication to the team regarding portfolio performance, market trends, and any recommendations to drive portfolio decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the startup ecosystem, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

This role is currently open only to candidates in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor the performance and progress of portfolio companies, track key performance indicators, and identify potential areas for value creation or risk mitigation.

  • Financial Analysis and Review: Analyze financial statements and forecasts to assess the financial health and growth potential of portfolio companies. 

  • Investment Reporting: 

    • Prepare regular portfolio reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders and limited partners (LPs). Communicate investment thesis, key findings, and performance updates effectively.

    • Collaborate with the finance team to monitor investment status and progress of portfolio companies

    • Spearhead ESG and impact metrics reporting for portfolio companies and fund.

  • Portfolio Optimization: Work closely with the team to provide strategic guidance, operational support, and access to relevant networks and resources. Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization.

  • Market Research: Stay informed and conduct market research about industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics within the startup ecosystem.

  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with portfolio investments, including market risks, operational risks, and regulatory risks. Implement risk management strategies to protect and enhance portfolio value.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including investment professionals, legal advisors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to drive successful investment outcomes and portfolio growth.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and investment trends through ongoing education, networking, and professional development activities.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in audit, fund accounting, restructuring, credit control. or related fields.

  • Deep understanding of the startup ecosystem, venture capital industry, and investment processes.

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling, portfolio management and valuation techniques.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and persuasively.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.

  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Proficiency in using financial software and analytics tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Notion).
